Born and raised in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Ann’s interest in nutrition and fitness began at 14 while playing high-level basketball and experimenting with being a vegetarian. She played university basketball in Halifax where she completed a bachelor’s degree in public relations and marketing. During this time, she also struggled with disordered eating and hit a low with weight, energy, stress and the inability to keep up with her team. She knew she had to make a change and she decided to start with learning about proper nutrition and changing her mindset to use food as fuel. Over the following six months, she bounced back and completed her university career racking up national credentials including Academic All-Canadian, Canadian Collegiate Athlete of the Month and a National Silver Medal. Ann is driven to help others discover how nutrition can be a powerful tool to fuel their bodies and their lives.
In 2014, after a five year career in marketing, Ann decided to make health and fitness a career and a way of life. She completed her personal training certifications and began working as a Professional Training Coach at Innovative Fitness Victoria in 2017.

Heather is originally from the small town of Nelson, BC, but made the move to the Island in 2003. The build-up to her decision to gain a Certified Nutritionist designation began when she started to struggle with body image in her teen years. In 2017, she competed in a fitness competition that unfortunately led to a difficult relationship with food once the season ended.
Somewhere along the line, she recognized a huge problem with rampant misinformation being spread by diet culture and chose to gain an education within the field to help demystify the world of nutrition. She quickly discovered a passion for the subject and a desire to apply her knowledge as a nutrition coach.
Heather loves being active, especially in the outdoors where she can enjoy the beauty that is British Columbia. Though in the spirit of balance, she allocates time in her busy schedule to sit back and relax on the couch to decompress. One thing that she gets excited about is cooking meals and tasting new foods–and she’s in the best business for that! Heather is looking forward to working with coaching clients to support and uplift them throughout their health and wellness journey.
We are so happy to be bringing Heather into the fold at Fettle and Food; we can tell that her skillset, determination, and holistic approach to nutrition will serve to strengthen our team by contributing to the Fettle and Food philosophy of balance and evidence-informed techniques.

Elissa had lived all over BC and southern Alberta before settling down in her hometown of Sparwood BC. In 2010, after struggling with weight and body image for all her teens and early 20s, she decided to make a change. Unfortunately, with the mass amounts of misinformation out there she found herself on the other end of the spectrum, severely undereating and over-exercising. She knew there had to be a middle ground.
She started diving into nutrition for health and performance. During this time, she fell in love with the human body and how much it was capable of. Knowing how hard it is to navigate exercise and nutrition alone she became a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM in 2018. After a few years of training clients, she realized how many others have the same struggle she did with their nutrition, so she became a Certified Nutrition Coach through the Nutrition Coaching Institute.
Elissa loves spending time with her family and friends, especially outdoors. Helping others and seeing them succeed is one of the things that she enjoys most. She aims to support clients with compassion, understanding, knowledge and accountability to help them reach and maintain their goals.
