Fettle

state or condition of health, fitness, wholeness, spirit, or form  — often used in the phrase in fine fettle 

Food

material consisting essentially of protein, carbohydrate, and fat used in the body of an organism to sustain growth, repair, and vital processes and to furnish energy 

Fettle + Food

We’re passionate about bringing physical fitness (sport, exercise, performance, body composition) and nutrition together. In fact, we believe it’s essential. To get the results you want – no matter what they are – fettle and food go hand-in-hand.  

It’s a way of life

Eating well is not about the latest diet or weight loss – it’s about learning to think of food differently and to pick and prepare foods that work with you to reach your fitness goals. We won’t give you a diet plan. Instead, we’ll help you develop all-around strategies for better eating – strategies that match your body type, performance goals, and your lifestyle.

Education first. 

Changing the way you eat won’t work over the long-term if you don’t understand how and why it’s important. We’ll work with you to develop sustainable eating habits based on your unique goals and history with food. Are you an emotional eater? Has your metabolism changed over the years and you’re not sure how to change with it? Are you training for something and have very specific fitness goals? Continuing education is mandatory for Fettle + Food coaches. That means you continue to learn as we do and you’ll always have access to the latest nutrition research and information.

At Fettle + Food, you are part of a team and community. You have the backing of others who are working on their nutrition and lifestyle habits, as well as coaches who are dedicated to holding you accountable to reach your goals.

Ann Conrod

Owner + Coach

Born and raised in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Ann’s interest in nutrition and fitness began at 14 while playing high-level basketball and experimenting with being a vegetarian. She played university basketball in Halifax where she completed a bachelor’s degree in public relations and marketing. During this time, she also struggled with disordered eating and hit a low with weight, energy, stress and the inability to keep up with her team. She knew she had to make a change and she decided to start with learning about proper nutrition and changing her mindset to use food as fuel. Over the following six months, she bounced back and completed her university career racking up national credentials including Academic All-Canadian, Canadian Collegiate Athlete of the Month and a National Silver Medal. Ann is driven to help others discover how nutrition can be a powerful tool to fuel their bodies and their lives.  

In 2014, after a five year career in marketing, Ann decided to make health and fitness a career and a way of life. She completed her personal training certifications and began working as a Professional Training Coach at Innovative Fitness Victoria in 2017.
