Ann Chisholm

Owner + Coach

Born and raised in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Ann’s interest in nutrition and fitness began at 14 while playing high-level basketball and experimenting with being a vegetarian. She played university basketball in Halifax where she completed a bachelor’s degree in public relations and marketing. During this time, she also struggled with disordered eating and hit a low with weight, energy, stress and the inability to keep up with her team. She knew she had to make a change and she decided to start with learning about proper nutrition and changing her mindset to use food as fuel. Over the following six months, she bounced back and completed her university career racking up national credentials including Academic All-Canadian, Canadian Collegiate Athlete of the Month and a National Silver Medal. Ann is driven to help others discover how nutrition can be a powerful tool to fuel their bodies and their lives.

In 2014, after a five year career in marketing, Ann decided to make health and fitness a career and a way of life. She completed her personal training certifications and began working as a Professional Training Coach at Innovative Fitness Victoria in 2017.

Heather Davey

Nutrition Coach

Heather is originally from the small town of Nelson, BC, but made the move to the Island in 2003. The build-up to her decision to gain a Certified Nutritionist designation began when she started to struggle with body image in her teen years. In 2017, she competed in a fitness competition that unfortunately led to a difficult relationship with food once the season ended.

Somewhere along the line, she recognized a huge problem with rampant misinformation being spread by diet culture and chose to gain an education within the field to help demystify the world of nutrition. She quickly discovered a passion for the subject and a desire to apply her knowledge as a nutrition coach.

Heather loves being active, especially in the outdoors where she can enjoy the beauty that is British Columbia. Though in the spirit of balance, she allocates time in her busy schedule to sit back and relax on the couch to decompress. One thing that she gets excited about is cooking meals and tasting new foods–and she’s in the best business for that! Heather is looking forward to working with coaching clients to support and uplift them throughout their health and wellness journey.

We are so happy to be bringing Heather into the fold at Fettle and Food; we can tell that her skillset, determination, and holistic approach to nutrition will serve to strengthen our team by contributing to the Fettle and Food philosophy of balance and evidence-informed techniques.

Megan Bush

Nutrition Coach

Megan was born and raised in Burlington Ontario and moved to Vancouver Island in March 2022.  She has since immersed herself in the B.C. lifestyle through activities she loves such as hiking, camping and kayaking.  From a very young age, Megan has been involved in sports including hockey, dancing, horseback riding, and snowboarding.  Participating in these activities is what sparked her love of movement and exercise.  This led her to a career in the health and fitness industry with the goal of inspiring others to start their own journey to wellness. Megan studied Physical Education at Brock University focusing on adaptive exercise and rehabilitative programming.  She then continued on to Niagara College earning a graduate certificate in Exercise Science and proudly achieving the title of Clinical Exercise Physiologist.  Megan’s most recent accomplishment is becoming a nutrition coach and joining the Fettle + Food team.  Megan’s passion for nutrition stems from her love of cooking recipes from scratch, and watching cooking shows on television with her mother. Implementing a vegetarian diet into her life for 6 years taught her how to balance macro/micro nutrients and to experiment with a variety of protein and healthy fat sources.  Her favourite style of cooking is taking foods that are traditionally considered to be “unhealthy” and re-creating them to be more nutritious and include whole foods while still being delicious!

Megan is currently working as a personal trainer at Tropos Fitness Club and cannot wait to provide a holistic and well-rounded approach to coaching her clients on the importance of exercise and nutrition since they go hand-in-hand.

• Exercise Science for Health and Performance post graduate certification from Niagara College Canada

Julia Kokonis

Dietician

Julia was born and raised in Unionville, Ontario and discovered her passion for health and fitness from a young age. Finding her calling in basketball early, Julia was recruited to play for the University of Guelph women’s varsity team earning her title as captain in her fourth year. During this time Julia was inspired by the effects food and nutrition can have not only on athletic performance, but in all aspects of life. She completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Human Nutrition program at the University of Guelph as an Academic All-Canadian and followed her love of the ocean to continue her education in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here Julia completed the Master of Science in Human Nutrition program with Internship Education at Mount Saint Vincent University while competing for the varsity women’s basketball team in her last year of eligibility. Julia is awaiting to complete her Canadian Dietetics Registration Exam in May 2023 to become a fully accredited Dietitian.

She recently completed her first half marathon in 2022 and is training for her first full marathon this fall. Julia loves to be outside in nature and you can often find her on a hike or in the water on sunny days. This love inspired her to move to the West coast, where she has been moved by the amazing community and beautiful spaces found here in Victoria.
